Top Tips
- Oily skin...
- If you have oily skin, dust the area to be waxed lightly with powder before waxing. It helps absorb excess oil on the skin.
- Waxing direction...
- When waxing, be sure to apply the wax in the same direction as the hair grows. Apply the strip over it, and give it two smooth, firm strokes. This makes sure the wax is adhered to the strip. When removing, pull the strip off in the opposite direction in which you applied it. Hold skin taut and pull the strip off quickly and as close to the skin as possible.
- After tanning...
- The sun dehydrates the upper layer of skin making it really sensitive, so avoid waxing for 24 hours after tanning.
- Warming pre-waxed strips...
- When using pre-waxed strips, spend a few minutes rubbing them between your hands. Your body temperature will warm the wax slightly so it will grip the individual hairs better.
- Removing wax residue...
- Wax residue left on your legs, arms or bikini line? Use a little of the wax to lift it away—it sticks to itself! If wax residue is still left on skin, use Azulene Oil, Baby Oil, or Mineral Oil to lift it away.
- Alleviating pain...
- An ibuprofen tablet taken 30 minutes before waxing may help alleviate pain. Avoid taking aspirin as it may result in bruising.
- Waxing hair length...
- It is best to wax hair that is 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch long. If it is shorter than this, the wax may not remove hair completely. If hair is longer, it will hinder the removal and could cause pain. Trim hair to the proper length before waxing.
- Fitting eyebrow arches...
- Can't get those pre-waxed strips into the arches of your brows? Warm them between your hands as usual, then use sharp scissors to cut them into the shape you want before peeling apart!
- Bikini depilatory creme...
- Before using a bikini depilatory creme, it is best to trim the hair to 1/4 inch or shorter. This will help the creme dissolve all the hair above and below the skin's surface so there's no dark shadow!
- Before hair removal...
- With any hair removal process; depilating, bleaching or waxing, always make sure the area is clean, dry, and free of any lotions, cremes, perfumes, and makeup. These products can keep the hair removal process from working correctly!
